The Idaho State University College of Pharmacy is located at Pocatello, Idaho. The history of the university extends back over a century to its humble beginnings in 1901. Today the Idaho State University has numerous campuses spread out over the state of Idaho. The university is proud to be the second largest in the state sporting a 2009 fall semester enrollment of over 14,000 full-time students. Over 280 programs are offered at Idaho State including the college of pharmacy. Idaho State University has so much to offer their students. In addition, the college of pharmacy recently celebrated their 90th anniversary. The college of pharmacy has spent almost a century molding future pharmacists that enter the community displaying strong professional ethics, integrity, and character. A public university, Idaho State is located in the southeastern portion of the state and is set about 150 miles northeast of Salt Lake City, Utah. The region is not only a great place to learn, but those who enjoy alpine skiing, hunting, or rock climbing will have plenty to do in their spare time.
Furthermore, a note to remember is that Idaho State University has awarded scholarships in the amount of $133,000 to students enrolling in the PharmD program. Technology has certainly changed. A regular notebook is no longer enough in class. Today a personal laptop computer is standard and required for everyday class work. Clinical rotations at retail locations across the state will commence during the final 42 weeks of the program.
Those who wish to apply to the Idaho State University School of Pharmacy for the four-year PharmD degree must complete a two- year pre-pharmacy program and complete 72 hours of semester credits. A 2.5 grade point average is also required. It is highly recommended that prospective applicants gain actual pharmacy experience prior to enrollment. The Pharmacy College Admissions Test is not required at Idaho State University. The application for enrollment as well as any transcripts must be presented directly to Idaho State University.
