The University of Hawaii-Hilo College of Pharmacy may only be a few years old but the potential for growth in the region is inspiring. Hawaii is often acknowledged as the crossroads of the Pacific. This creates an atmosphere of vast and diverse integration of minds and souls from both the Asian and American continents. Take into consideration the latest state-of-the-art educational tools combined with a faculty that dedicates itself to personal one-on-one attention, and you have an educational facility that is embracing the future with arms open wide.
As with many universities, the University of Hawaii-Hilo offers the PharmD degree. This four-year professional degree is also known as the Doctor of Pharmacy. All interested applicants are required to complete a two-year pre-pharmacy program prior to enrolling in the PharmD program. The initial letter of application, Pharmacy College Admissions Test scores, and transcripts must be mailed directly to PharmCAS. A supplemental application should be mailed to the University of Hawaii-Hilo at the same time. There is no required grade point average to apply but the most recent class had an average of 3.2. Past academic records will be a factor as will the results of a personal interview. Only 80-90 students will be accepted per class.
In addition, the University of Hawaii-Hilo offers a campus in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. The opportunity to study in this region as well as enjoy fun in the sun is a combination worth pursuing. Although the enrollment committee looks hard at academics, they also are focused on personal development. They are looking for motivated individuals that display character and integrity. All interested applicants should contact the admissions department at the University of Hawaii-Hilo.
