A recent study done by an independent magazine reveals that instances of drug addiction are increasing by the day in the United States of America. The study claims that a 35% increase in the cases of drug abuse is due to lack of awareness about the side effects and repercussions of consuming drugs. The presence of some drug information pharmacies that provide information to individuals on drug abuse seems to be of no avail.
One of the main reasons why drug information pharmacies don’t seem to work as effectively as conceived is because the lack of these pharmacies in numbers. There are very few of these pharmacies around, which make accessibility of products and information a problem for people. These pharmacies provide critical drug-related information to people and thus, are considered very important in the domain of medicine.
Sometimes people don’t have the time to go to their doctors and end up purchasing OTC (over the counter) drugs. They seem unaware of the possible side effects of the drug when they purchase it. The problem is exacerbated even further with the anti-depressant class of drugs, because people need to know the exact contents of these drugs or else they would be consuming the wrong drug all their life.
Lack of drug information results in the wrong treatment being provided to the patient. Doctors may prescribe a top-class medication to the patient, but can the patient take the medicine without being subject to side effects to their body? By providing only information and not selling any drug by themselves, drug information pharmacies can be considered excellent educational resources for anyone who wishes to know about drugs.
Apart from the fact that these pharmacies are very few in number, there are not many limitations one can think of related to these pharmacies.
