The rising costs of healthcare coupled with the need of patients who have a moving impairment has resulted in home health pharmacies to not only exist, but do flourishing business. These pharmacies have a team of expertly trained staff who provide medications to patients. These pharmacies normally do not prescribe medicines on their own.

A home health pharmacy would primarily act on the prescriptions provided by the doctor or the consulting physician and deliver healthcare aid to the patients.

Normally, these pharmacies provide products related to fitness and rehabilitation, urological products, wound care, and aids for daily living. Specifically, a home health pharmacy would sell products like a stability ball, urban pole, pedal exercisers, urine catheters, skin barrier creams, and other such products. They would also provide a complete instructions manual to the patient to guide them on how to use these products.

At times, patients may independently ask the home health pharmacist to supply them with some of these products. In such a scenario, the home health pharmacy supplies the product as long as it is in stock. The only reason a doctor’s prescription is not mandatory is because the medical exposure of the products sold by these pharmacies is limited.

For example, an individual’s need of using a urine catheter may not expose his health to side effects at all.

The major difference between a home health pharmacy and other pharmacies is that the products dispensed by a home healthcare pharmacy may not have a direct medical impact on the patient. Apart from this, they work just like other pharmacies too, taking in prescriptions from individuals and doctors and supplying the products if in stock.

Some home healthcare pharmacies specialize in a certain niche of products. For example, some pharmacies sell only urological products, while some others may sell fitness-related equipments.
