The University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy, located in Albuquerque, began in 1945, offering the first professional healthcare degree program at the University of New Mexico.
In pursuit of the college’s commitment to developing leaders to enhance community health and wellbeing, it offers numerous programs, including the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program and undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in pharmaceuticals. It also has scholarship programs and opportunities to specialize in your areas of interest.
The college is unique and was the first educational institution to establish a Nuclear Pharmacy program in America. The college also has facilities and programs at the:

College of pharmacy students can take their classroom learning and apply it to real-life working environments through the Pharmacy Practice Experiences program offered after the first and second years in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. This lets students gain confidence and gives them the chance to practice patient counseling, dispensing medications, managing diseases, and gaining an overall understanding of drug therapies. This valuable training helps graduates gain employment straight out of the program.
The sole profession degree offered by the college of pharmacy is the Doctor of Pharmacy. It requires 4 years (134 hours) of study and 64 hours of pre-pharmacy coursework with an average GPA score of 2.7 as a minimum. You must also submit your Pharmacy College Admission Test and three letters of recommendation along with your application.
Throughout the professional pharmacy program, students progress from learning the basics of pharmaceutical science to practicing their skills in patient and research environments. Upon graduation from the doctoral program, students are confident professionals with the knowledge, training, and experience to provide exceptional patient care into the future.
