In 1908 the University of Nebraska appointed Dr. Rufus Lyman as the first director of its college of pharmacy after he advised the university board of directors there was an educational need in Nebraska. It began as the school of pharmacy within the school of medicine, but in 1915 the college of pharmacy became a college in its own right with Dr. Lyman as the first dean.
When the college moved to the Omaha Medical Center campus in 1976, it also became the third institution to offer the Doctor in Pharmacy program where previously the only degree you could get was the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
The College of Pharmacy has cutting-edge facilities and while the basic sciences are at the core of the doctoral program, you learn so much more to emerge as a healthcare leader. You will learn:

You can join the Community Pharmacy Residency Program to practice your pharmacy skills and prepare you for the workforce. In this program you work with patients, students, and health professionals in all types of healthcare environments. The program aims to simulate the workplace and real life. You will participate with surgery teams, do patient rounds with doctors, and provide services to healthcare professionals.
University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy students graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy as confident health professionals ready to enter the workplace.
For admission into the college you need a minimum of a 3.0 GPA score, class grades of C or higher, and to submit a completed Pharmacy College Admission Test. Entry is competitive with graduating students sought after as pharmacists, educators, and researchers.
