Mercer University has campuses in Macon, Savannah, and Atlanta, Georgia. The College of Pharmacy and Health Services is located on the Atlanta campus. Mercer University is an old and well-respected educational facility that first opened its doors way back in 1833. Although technology and technique have certainly changed over the last 177 years, the university has dedicated itself to ensuring that outstanding morals and ethics still guide their educational vision. Old traditions like character building are combined with the most innovative and up-to-date information to mold pharmacy careers for the future.

In addition, it can be said that Mercer University offers more diverse fields of study than any other school of its size. This private coeducational facility is home to more than 8,000 students spread out over numerous campuses. This pharmacy school was the first in the southeast to offer the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1981. They were the 5th to do so in the country. The hands on training offered here is essential to the student’s success in the real world.

In order to enroll in the four-year professional program, the applicant must first take complete two years of pre-professional schooling that consists of 60 semester hours of required college classes. In addition, applicants will be considered for enrollment dependant upon other qualifications. The enrollment committee will make their decision based on past academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and a personal interview that will be conducted. Furthermore, the committee will examine the applicant’s Pharmacy College Admissions Test scores for consideration.

Mercer University and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences continues to offer programs designed to stimulate and challenge the minds of the future pharmacist. It is not their intention to simply graduate someone into a pharmacy career but rather to send professionals out in the community that will be defined by their integrity, willingness to induce change, and ability to make improvements.
